The Internal Revenue Service has announced a delay in reporting thresholds for third-party settlement organizations set to take effect for the upcoming tax filing season.

Clean Vehicle Tax Credits – Dec 20, 2022

The IRS has released guidance concerning the new clean vehicle tax credit. The prior law electric vehicle credit under IRC section 30D still applies through the end of the 2022 tax year using the old rules and credit amounts. However, any vehicle placed in service as of August 17, 2022 must meet the new final assembly in North America rule.

Under the SECURE Act, the 5-year period under the 5-year rule is lengthened to 10 years (10-year rule). The 10-year rule applies regardless of whether the employee dies before the required beginning date.

Beginning in tax year 2022, individuals, partnerships, LLCs, and corporations that earn more than $600 through various online venues will start receiving Form 1099-K, Payment Card and Third-Party Network Transactions, on which that income will be reported to themselves and the IRS.

5-14-2021 Update concerning unemployment received in 2020

The Internal Revenue Service has announced that it will take steps to automatically refund money this spring and summer to people who filed their tax return reporting unemployment compensation before the recent changes made by the American Rescue Plan.

The IRS states:

“There is no need for taxpayers to file an amended return unless the calculations make the taxpayer newly eligible for additional federal credits and deductions not already included on the original tax return.”
